SCOUTING PROGRAMS...A concise overview

Cub Scouting

Cub Scouting

Cub Scouts is a family and home centered program that develops ethical decision-making skills for boys in the first through fifth grade (or who are 7, 8, 9, and 10 years old).  Activities emphasize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.

Boy Scouting

Boy Scouting

Boy Scouting is a program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster.  (Boys also may become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade.)

Scoutreach

The Scoutreach Division gives special leadership to urban and rural Scouting programs.  Scoutreach is the BSA’s commitment to making sure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.

Venturing

Venturing

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.  Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities.  Local community organizations establish a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community.  The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocation or hobby interests.

NESA

National Eagle Scout Association

The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) is a fellowship of men who have achieved the Eagle Scout rank and who desire to use their efforts and influence toward forming the kind of young men America needs for leadership.

Learning for Life

Learning for Life offers seven programs designed to support schools and community- based organizations in their efforts to prepare youth focusing on character development and career education.

EXPLORIN.BMP

Exploring

Exploring is the worksite-based part of Learning for Life’s career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years old.

Exploring’s purpose is to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.  Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and communities.
